My philosophy here is basically two fold:
Recording at the studio is best suited for smaller band assemblages (about 3 at a time), solo musicians &
their guests, overdub and voice-over projects.
Larger bands wishing to track together, have
utilized Inner Ear's remote recording capabilities
to create multitrack recordings at home, open jams,
live shows and recitals, mixed back in the studio.
Artists who have recorded in other studios, including at
home, have benefitted their projects greatly by bringing their
multitrack masters to I. E. for mixing and mastering.
My experience has demonstrated the superiority of an
analog mixing environment. The studio, therefore, centers around a 32x32x8 channel Soundcraft Ghost mixing console.
My recording format of choice remains Tascam digital tape (24 tracks).
Analog mixes (from the Ghost) are routed through the
highest quality 24bit / 48kHz digital converters available
into Protools for further refinement, storage or burning.
